Unpardonable Crimes: The Legacy of Fidel Castro presents a series
of stories written as fiction but based on true events told to
the author Celestino Heres by his family and friends. Everybody
has a story to tell, and often there is always a story behind the
story. Many of the events actually occurred in Cuba prior to,
during and after the Revolution. These stories might have never
been given a voice; this collection attempts to counteract that
secrecy.

The first story, "From Buchenwald to Connecticut," is the story
of Heres's father-in-law, Raul, a jewelry manufacturer in Cuba.
"Bitter Victory" was relayed to Heres by his two dear friends,
who suffered imprisonment in Castro's gulag. The rest of the
tales are born from the myriad conversations the author has had
with many Cuban friends over forty years in exile.

As is the case with stories of war, many stories of the Cuban
people have been buried in silence, six feet under and muted.
This collection demonstrates the common thread Cubans have
endured and are still enduring under the cruel oppression and
betrayal of Fidel Castro.
